Elliot thank you for posting this letter from Rick, this is the first time I have ever heard how the Boulder Kinetic Sculpture Challenge was started. The history of these events are somewhat left up to folklore and legend.  I only hope that we the next generation of Boulder Kineticists can keep the Kinetic tradition alive. It is so cool that the internet allows us the opportunity to ask questions to the founder of our race.
Rick, thank you for taking the time to share your incredible incite on the future of our race. I understand and appreciate the perspective that only you have as the founder. I found myself smiling and agreeing with everything you said. We have many decisions to make that will decide whether or not to keep the race alive. We are working to redefine our goals and trying to switch our gears to run the show instead of playing the part of Kineticists. Only time will tell what will happen. I am going to print out copies of your letter to share with some members of the team that don’t have computers. Your advice is priceless, thank you. I hope to hear from you again.

It was also the fourth year in a row that we crossed the finish line in first place. It makes me very proud to have won the last KBCO race. I am looking forward to racing again. Oue team still wants to race! Read More....

Before the float test, the team members discuss what part they will play when piloting the craft. The mary goal of the float test is to determine if the craft is in good working order. During the post parade float test, the most expensive component on the craft failed. Eugene worked for many hours both Saturday and Sunday removing the damaged component, trouble shooting and researching replacement options.
